Christopher went to his annual physical not knowing what was wrong. He had always had a “funnel chest”. His mom noticed over the last few months, however, it was getting worse. Chris was having dizzy spells, feeling light-headed, and extremely tired. His doctor knew right away his condition was severe. He was referred to a cardiologist and was seen the very next. After the test results came back, he was diagnosed with aortic root dilation. Also, due to the chest, heart issue, and other physical issues-his doctor believes Chris either has Morfrans Syndrome or Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Chris had pectus surgery November 2nd, and is slowly recovering. He is waiting on the results of genetic testing. He most recently added Postural Hypotension to his list of medical conditions, and now his joints are also being affected.
Chris has a great sense of humor, and he cares deeply for his family. He is especially close to his grandmother and cares for her as much as his health will allow. Until his physical, Chris was an avid football player, and he loves sports. He was in track previous to this school year. His favorite sports team is the Chargers. Red pandas are his favorite animal, and he like any kind of music except rock music.
Chris is most proud of how he protects other kids at school from being bullied. He is an ally and he has a huge heart for others. His mother has had to stop working to support and care for Chris. He cannot attend school full-time due to his health.
